Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can anyone put scaffolding up?
No, all scaffolding erectors must be CISRS trained. Scaffolds should be designed, erected, altered and dismantled only by competent people and the work should always be carried out under the direction of a competent supervisor. Scaffolders should be trained to a minimum of CISRS scaffolding part 2. This is a requirement of the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
  • How do I choose a good scaffolder?
Choosing a good scaffolder can be difficult. There are so many choices and you might not know what to look for. A reliable scaffolder will have CISRS training, insurance, years of experience and health and safety training. When deciding between scaffolding contractors, it’s always best to ensure that the same things are included in the quotes that you are provided. Here is a list of common omissions that you should clarify: Are ladders included? Is there a cost saving for early completion? How much is the excess hire should the job run over? If the job isn’t ready when the scaffolders turn up, how much will I be charged? Are the scaffolding inspections included?
  • When do you need scaffolding?
Scaffolding can be used for a wide range of safety and access needs. Scaffolding is useful for any project where workmen are working at a height including roof repairs, house extensions and solar panel installation, any project that requires a public access walkway, demolitions, new builds and rebuilds.
  • How long can I have the scaffolding for?
You can have the scaffolding for as long as you need. We will discuss how long you expect the project to take with you before we start so that we can provide you with an accurate scaffold hire rate.
  • How high can scaffolding go?
Theoretically there is no limit to the height a scaffold can be erected provided an engineer designs the structure based on the engineering properties of the components.
  • What qualifications does Marine Scaffolding Ltd have?
Our team has a range of qualifications, accreditations and professional associations which facilitate our pursuit of maintaining the highest standards.
